The backpackers are on their way to Puerto Rico! The group met this morning at SCVi Charter School and departed for LAX to begin their Backpacks Full of Hope journey.
Here's a quick look at the itinerary awaiting the backpackers:
Tuesday 3/20 - Advance team travels LAX to SJU (Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport).
Thursday 3/22 - The rest of the team travels LAX to SJU. (2 a.m. meet time at the school!)
Friday 3/23 - Working with local agency Para la Naturaleza in Rio Encantado replanting native vegetation.
Saturday 3/24 - Working with Para la Naturaleza near Hacienda la Esperanza (a historic sugar plantation coincidentally called "Hacienda of Hope") replanting native vegetation and rebuilding the nursery.
Sunday 3/25 - With the local population being predominantly Catholic, little work is done on Sundays. We will get a little time to explore Puerto Rico.

Tuesday 3/27 - Working with local volunteer organizer, Colectivo Verdolaga, to build "Earthships."
